A Life in Motion
My name is Bonnie Speck, and in 2009 my life changed forever.
As a mom, wife, global corporate executive, and frequent international traveler, I learned what it means to move through the world always on guard. Living with Celiac Disease isn’t just a dietary restriction — it’s a constant state of alertness, planning, negotiating, and explaining.
While others effortlessly enjoy meals, I’m calculating risk.
While others indulge, I prepare.
While others relax into the moment, I brace myself.
For years, I carried a quiet pain:
the feeling that I was denying myself what everyone else takes for granted.
I’ve sat in rooms where I felt like a burden.
I’ve heard people joke that I “think I’m special.”
I’ve had strangers explain dramatic myths:
“You have to rip out your whole kitchen.”
“You’re being picky.”
“It’s not that serious.”
I’ve attended industry-sponsored events where I paid for a ticket — only to realize there were no safe options for me to eat. And when I finally had to speak up, I felt like the problem.
But the truth is: I’m not the problem. The system is.
And that’s why I created Bonitappétite.
Not just for me — but for every woman who has felt:
- unseen
- misunderstood
- dismissed
- anxious
- embarrassed for needing what keeps us healthy
I believe we deserve:
- safety
- dignity
- joy
- and the freedom to say “yes” to life again
Bonitappétite exists to help women like us reclaim our confidence, navigate the world without fear, and thrive — not despite Celiac Disease, but while living fully with it.
This is a movement for equality, empowerment, and everyday courage.
Welcome to Bonitappétite — where gluten-free finally feels like freedom.
